Steve Clark is the pastor of First Baptist Church. His wife, Beverly, serves the church as secretary (she has a degree in Psychology, be wary of her). They have three grown daughters with families of their own (12 grandchildren).

He was raised in a conservative home and was called by the Lord to be a preacher many years ago. He still considers preaching to be his primary responsibility. He has been the pastor of several churches in Missouri, and the International Baptist Church of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. While serving as a drug and alcohol counselor in the U.S. Army he preached in several churches in (then) West Germany.

Bro. Steve is a graduate of Southwest Baptist University in Boliver, MO, and Central Baptist Theological Seminary, Kansas City, but he tries not to let it show. His preferred title is “Brother” Steve to avoid any artificial distinctions between “clergy” and “laity.” He has worked in “Blue Collar” occupations - with explosives in a mine, as a warehouse supervisor, and in law enforcement (as a patrolman and corrections officer). His sympathies remain with those working men and women.

Like our nation’s founders, Bro. Steve believes the Bible ought to be studied by everyone but is truly valuable if it is lived. He loves pithy sayings and one of his favorites is “You never waste your time greasin’ ‘less your greasin’ all the time.” In other words, you can spend your life preparing and never get any work done. It is his hope that everyone who comes to First Baptist will be looking for a Lord to serve and a place to serve.

Song Leader/ Music Director

Jimmy Spencer

Wild as a child, he’s almost all grown up now. Jim Spencer has been a lot of things. Now he is our Song Leader at First Baptist Church. There are a lot of talented people in the world and Jimmy sings well enough to take his place among them, but Jimmy leads with heart. It just makes you want to sing! He chooses music for both the younger and older generations…but as The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir puts it - His Favorite Song of All is the song of the redeemed!
